I came across this dress in Sears for US$19.99, I thought the pastel colors were so pretty. The scarves I found in Wet Seal for US$3.00 each on sale. I need a long sleeved cardigan and cute shoes to complete the look.

I saw this downloadable pattern online at sewingpatterns.com , the style in blue looks like it could be customized as a sporty jilbab. Its $5.99 US for download here . The other styles look cozy and can be worn around the home.

Some Muslim women (and some men too) have the tendency to criticize sisters for how they wear hijab, for them not fully covering, even for not covering their feet. Many women are simply not ready for hijab, they have accepted Islam but they are not ready to take the next step. They may take baby steps, wearing a small scarf every now and then, wearing a long blouse over jeans, but are not ready to take the plunge into being a full time muhajabah. This may take time, as everyone is different, it may even take some sisters YEARS to wear hijab full-time.

I bought the hijab at shukr and the caftan from eshakti. The caftan has splits at the sides. I was contemplating stitching the splits up, but I may opt for wearing a white pants or skirt under it, I still haven't decided.

To spice it up a bit I'll add red shoes, red knee highs and a red purse InshaAllah.

These aren't the exact bag, stockings, and shoes that I will be wearing, I was too lazy to take actual pics so I got these online, I love the style of these shoes though, they are quite unique.

Bear in mind that the neck and busom should be covered and your figure should not be showing, the dress could be in a larger size to be more loose fitting and a headscarf worn to cover appropriately.

The ao dai (áo dài) is a Vietnamese national costume primarily for women. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk dress worn over pantaloons. Áo is derived from a Middle Chinese word meaning "padded coat" In modern Vietnamese, áo refers to an item of clothing that covers from the neck down. Dài means "long." (WikiPedia)

I think the Ao Dai could be 'Islamicized', obviously by not wearing a tight fitting one, try a size or two larger than your normal, and ensure that your pants fully cover your sides and legs.

I like to sew, and fortunately there are patterns available that are 'hijab' ready or that can be customized. What I like to do is wear a dress as a blouse with pants or even a skirt.
